PRIVACY POLICY

Digital Wave Surf Shop
December 1, 2011

Your privacy is important to us. To better protect your privacy the following notice explains the information we collect, how it is used, how it is safeguarded, and how to contact us if you have any concerns.

Through its website, and in conjunction with its store hosting service Bigcommerce and its payment processors Stripe and Paypal, DWSS collects the following information from customers using secure socket layer (SSL) technology: name, shipping address, billing address, email address, phone number, product order information, and credit/debit card number.  Other information obtained from customers includes browser type, IP address, and country of origin. Credit/debit card numbers cannot be seen by DWSS; they are visible only to its payment processors.  DWSS also collects website interaction information.

All of the aforementioned information is stored by Bigcommerce, Stripe, and Paypal on their servers.  With the exception of credit/debit card numbers, it is accessed by DWSS through its accounts with Bigcommerce, Stripe, and Paypal and may be downloaded onto DWSS company computers for back-up purposes.

Phone numbers are collected in order to be PCI-compliant.  They are used only to contact a customer to resolve an order or shipping issue.  Under no circumstances will they ever be used or sold for marketing purposes.

Email addresses are also collected to be PCI-compliant.  They are used mainly for the purposes of order confirmation and shipping notification. Under no circumstances will they ever be sold for marketing purposes.  If the customer opts-in to receive the DWSS newsletter, email addresses will be used to send the newsletter.  Only occasionally will promotional emails be sent.

Most visitor website interaction information, such as time on site, pages visited, and links clicked, is collected by analytical services such as Google Analytics.  It is visible to DWSS only as non-personal, aggregate information.

Cookies may be placed on a visitor's computer as a result of visiting the DWSS website.  Here is one explanation of how a cookie works: A cookie is a piece of data that a Web server gives to a Web browser.  When the same browser asks the server for another page, it includes the cookie with the request.  This lets the server know when a sequence of clicks all come from the same browser. Cookies primarily help to keep track of each shopper's shopping basket.

Cookies may also be placed on a visitor's computer if an affiliate link is clicked. For more information on DWSS's participation in affiliate programs, see our affiliate programs disclosure page.

No information collected by DWSS or to which it has access through third parties is shared with or sold to any other third parties for marketing purposes. Customer information may be shared to comply with legal requirements, such as a subpoena. Customer names, shipping addresses, and email addresses are shared with shipping companies solely for the purpose of order delivery.

DWSS takes all reasonable security measures to protect customer information, but it cannot be held responsible for the actions of affiliated or unaffiliated third parties.

For any privacy or security concerns regarding Bigcommerce or Paypal, refer to their privacy policies.

If you have questions or concerns about our privacy policy, you may contact us at privacy@dwsurfshop.com. We will respond to your email within 2-3 business days.
